LoRD on ICC
Introduction
LoRD is an online text-based game first created by Seth Able Robinson, and rewritten by Peer to run on ICC.
The aim of the game is to defeat the Red Dragon, but first you must advance through all the levels to get to level 12. You must defeat the master of each level to get to the next level, and you must have a certain amount of experience to challenge the master. You gain experience by killing monsters, and players.
To register, type 'tell print register' in your ICC console. From now on all commands you tell to Print, for example 'tell print f' and 'tell print a'.
Type 'f' (tell print f) to go to the forest. Type 'v' (View your stats). You should see something like the following:
> Statistics for player xxxxxx:
> Weapon: Stick
> Shield: Coat
> Attack strength: 10
> Defensive strength: 1
> Horse? No
> Fairy? No
> Gold in hand: 0
> Gold in bank: 0
> Gems: 0
> Experience Points: 0
> Charm: 0
> Level: 1
> Hit Points: 20
> Max Hit Points: 20
> Manager: No
There are 15 weapons and 15 armours/shields. Eventually as you level up you will buy better and better ones.
Attack strength is how much damage you hit.
Defensive strength decreases the amount your opponent hits, and increases his/her chances of 'missing completely'. Unless you buy defense points with gems, your defense will not go up within the same level (your defense goes up when you level up).
Horses & Fairies save your life, fairies restore you to full HP when you die (but you're still battling the monster that killed you); horses make you kill the opponent (when it happens you will know what I mean).
Gold in hand is how much gold you are holding, this value goes to 0 when you die (you lose all the money you're holding). 'Gold in bank' is the same, but you don't lose it when you die.
Gems buy things that money can't buy, like Attack, Defense, and Hitpoints, as well as some other useful things.
Experience Points are needed to challenge the master of each level (you need a certain amount).
Charm is not very useful. You need certain amounts to kiss Olivia, and 'Flirt with Violet', but the payoff is a very little amount of experience points.
Level, obviously, is the level you are currently on, and to advance you defeat the master of each level.
Hit points is 'life'. Monsters, when they hit you, reduce your hit points. Max hit points is the maximum amount of HP you can have in a battle, this can be increased.
Managers have the last setting set to 'yes'.
Locations
Now, to look for a monster, type 'l' ('tell print l', remember.) Now type 'a' to attack, 's' to view your stats during battle, or 'r' to run away. If you do attack it, and defeat it, you get a certain amount of gold and exp. However, if you lose, and you die, then you lose all gold in your hand, lose 10% of your exp. points, and have to wait 3 min until you can play again. So in some cases you might want to run away, to avoid dying.
In the Town Square (type 'r' to return to the town if you are in the forest) you can do many different things.
The Forest is where you train by killing monsters, and encountering random events.
The Player Arena is where you challenge other players. You may not challenge someone who is more than one level less than you, or someone who is currently dead.
King Arthur's Weapons is where you buy new weapons after selling your old ones. There are 15 weapons.
Abdul's Armour is where you buy new armour after selling your old armour. There are also 15 armours.
The Healer's Hut is where you heal your hitpoints.
View Your Stats is self-explanatory.
In the Inn you can Get a Room (pay money to prevent other people from attacking you easily), view Daily News (who got killed by who), Spread Rumours (Which appear in the daily news), Flirt with Violet (gain exp, but only once every 24 hours), and Talk with the Bartender (Buy elixirs, kill people sleeping in the Inn, pay gems for information about another player).
In Turgon's Warrior Training you can advance levels, or Visit the Hall of Honour (People with dragon kills are listed in there).
In the Bank you can deposit money so you dont lose it when you die.
List Managers and Admins lists managers/admins that are online.
You can ask a Question, which sends it to all online managers/admins.
Daily News lists the last 20 significant things that have happened.
Zor's Help File gives a brief introduction to the game.
MOTD does nothing special.

Random Events
When you 'Look for a monster to Kill' in the forest, sometimes you will get something other than a monster. These are Random Events.
The Ugly Old Hag asks you for a gem, and if you give her one she heals you and raises your Max Hitpoints by 1. I suggest you don't give her any gems, save them for level 12. Also, if you don't have any gems and you try to give her one, she hits you with her cane and your hitpoints drop to 1.
A Hammer Stone raises your Attack by 1.
Merry Men heal you back to full health. To me these are useless, as I always make sure I have full health before looking for a monster anyway.
Olivia the Bodyless Woman can do two things: If you 'ask for a kiss' (when you have enough charm), then she will give you a small amount of experience points (Nothing happens if you don't have enough charm). If you 'Get inside her head', she will give you the current location of the princess (somewhere in her boring speech).
The Princess is when you see a note on the ground. You have two options: 'Save her', or 'Ignore the Girl'. Ignoring the girl just takes you back to the forest. If you try to save her you have 5 locations. 3 of them are useless, 1 of them has a monster (which reduces your hitpoints to 1), and one of them has the princess, who gives you a certain amount of exp and some gems. You can find the location of the princess from Olivia. When one person finds the princess, the location of the princess changes for everyone (but it is one location).
The Horse Seller can buy your horse or sell you a horse. The cost to buy a horse is equal to the current level times 10000.
Lightning kills you instantly. Horses & Fairies are useless.
The Fairies do many things. If you 'Try to catch one to show your friends', you have 50% chance of obtaining a fairy, and 50% chance of grabbing a Thornberry Bush and having your hitpoints drop to 1. If you 'Ask for a blessing', you have 25% chance each of: gaining some experience, having yourself healed to full health, obtaining some gems, or obtaining a horse.
A Pretty Stick gives you 5 charm.
An Ugly Stick makes you lose 1 charm.
Sometimes you may find a Pile of Coins on the ground. This is just free money.
The Super Secret Realm (SSR) will sometimes open up, and this is a place where you can create your own monster, or battle monsters created by other players. When you create the monster, the monster will take the form of your current stats. The SSR is a great place to get gems.
Tips
Level Up only when you are ABSOLUTELY DOMINATING on a level, because the later levels get much much more difficult, and you will die a lot if you are not strong. Also, you should avoid lv 10 and 11 and skip to 12 because they are hell. You need 10 million exp to go to lv 12.
Try not to spend gems on stats unless you are on level 12. The extra stats will just be wiped out when you level up.
As soon as you have 10 million exp, level up to level 12. On level 12 you can spend all of your gems, because you will not level up anymore. You will need all the gems you can get. Also, on level 12, dying doesn't matter, as exp does nothing.
On level 12, Vitality Potions (Def) are the best type of potion to get.
Set some aliases, like healing ones. To do this type something like '+alias h multi tell print h; tell print h; tell print b; tell print d all; tell print r; tell print l' This means (when you're in the forest) when you type 'h', it will automatically heal you fully, bank the rest of the money, and look for something to kill. In ICC, type 'help alias' for more info on how to use them.
Sometimes when you attack a monster too soon after the last attack, it will say you're rushing. At first nothing happens, but if you too many times it will turn into loss of hitpoints (50% for every rush).
Horses save your life when you're about to die, and kill the monster which attacks you, except when fighting the red dragon. If you're fighting the dragon, and the horse dies, you only deal about 1/4 damage to the dragon's hp.
Fairies restore your health fully when you die, although you will still be fighting the monster which killed you.
The Red Dragon has 15000 hp; Armour of Lore is a must; and you should also have a horse and fairy. Power moves are common when fighting the dragon. You should also have at least 800 Defence.
